The Sultan Iskandar Mosque . Tourist Masjid in Johor Baru
JOHOR BARU ,21st January 2010. Fusion Adventure group recently visit and explore The Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Malay called Masjid Sultan Iskandar, is a mosque located at Bandar Dato’ Onn, Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia. The mosque was named after the late 24th and fourth Sultan of Johor, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail.
The Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Bandar Dato’ Onn has been declared Malaysia’s first tourism-friendly mosque following a Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA) certificate given to it by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry explained Mr. Ridhuan Tan the person in charge in masjid during tourist masjid presentation. said in addition to having mosque employees play a tour guide role to provide insight on Islam, there are also the Galeri An-Nur a collection of mushaff nusantara and a theatre, gift shop, dining area, wedding and celebration area and in future will also build friendly kid area. We hope to attract 40,000 visitors to the mosque for Visit Johor Year 2020 he added.
The mosque was built by Johor Land Berhad, and currently being managed by Waqaf An-Nur Corporation Berhad, both are subsidiaries of Johor Corporation (JCorp). It was initially known as Bandar Dato’ Onn Mosque. Construction began from 2012 and was completed in 2015. The mosque was officially opened in 8 April 2016 by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Idris ibni Sultan Ibrahim in conjunction of his late grandfather Sultan Iskandar’s birthday.
